What Am I supposed To Do Now?

Have you read this book yet? I'm in the process of reading it and...I'll be honest. It's kind of upsetting.
Not upsetting because of the lies it tells or hatred it portrays.
No.
It's much worse.
It's because of the truth it tells.
It's deep, penetrating truth.
I can't escape it.
It's brought the knowledge of Jesus Christ and what he did for us to life.
It challenges me to live that life.
It's showing me the reality of how dangerous it is to follow Jesus.
Not the American Jesus.
The real Jesus.
Claiborne talks about all the things he's been jailed for, fined for, scolded for, etc.
It's all what Jesus told us to fight for.
Not with guns and bombs but with love.
I really can't even believe I'm saying this.
His book is really making me think about what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
I hope you read this book. I hope you buy it, or at the very least borrow it from someone. I am only just now reading it because we had lent it out to so many people before I snatched it off our shelves when it was returned this last time! It was a close one though. Christian was looking for it and I sheepishly admitted that I had stashed it so I could read it when I was finished with Sex God, by Rob Bell.
Anyway. I'd love to get into a discussion about this book. I think it'd be a great book club book. There's so much to it. Even a BLOG doesn't lend itself to the things it's unearthed inside my soul.
Happy reading.
P.S. Here's the link to amazon incase you are a booky too:) Click Here

I've been wanting to read this for some time now, but it seems like I never have time for reading anymore. I guess I'll just have to make time. I'm down for discussion, if you can't find any face-to-facers. Happy reading!

OOOhhh, I'm always up for a good read. I'll put it on the list.
Glad to hear you've got some tomatoes coming yourself...if we were closer we would totally do a food swap. By the way how was Sex God & whats it about?

Sex God was good. It's about the fallen nature of our human sexuality and a view on what God thinks about sex and sexuality. It's not just about sex, it's deeper than that. It's a good read too. I definitely recommend it as well.

Even though I have absolutely no time for "extra" (read:non-textbook) reading, I picked this up on Friday. I'm nearly finished, and all I can say is "wow."

I have about 7 million thoughts that I might be able to gather into blog form... hopefully... Is there anything in particular you'd like to discuss? I told my INN girls about it and we are thinking about doing a group reading, so I'll probably end up doing an in-depth study to be able to lead the group. Any thoughts???

He was just at a church in town last night speaking about his new book, Jesus for President. I have to get it.
Anyway...I want to dig deeper about his theology about community, war, health insurance, love, man...I could go on. The foot notes may be a good place for me to start though. Every page had like a million references to other works of literature to check out. THere were a couple of web sites that were tops on my list. I'll try to find my list and get it to you.

Jodi, It has been on my Amazon wish list for a while. I will have to pick it up sometime soon. When is your next little one due? Do you think the Barons and the Bowermans might ever find a time to hang out? I left a comment on Christian's blog too. But it looks like you check yours more often.

Peace,
Wayne
